Chess in Schools Congress Results - 20th July 2019

Kids Section : Chess in Schools Congress Results - 20th July 2019

An excellent final event before our summer break.

For the first time we had 3 players in the senior event which continues to show the progress our players are making.

William Hardman-Elliott had an amazing first attempt scoring 2.5 out of 5 demonstrating he is now ready for the step up to this exclusive group, he did not look out of place at all. Lawrence Moustafa and Ethan Lancaster (scored 2 out of 5) also played really well.

In the other event Sithun De Silva (private tuition) scored a brilliant 5 out of 6 and was joint 1st overall but after tie break finished 2nd after I was mistakenly told a draw in the last round would secure 1st place.

Shawn and Kyle Dissanayake (both private) after just 5 lessons remarkably scored 3.5 and 3 out of 6 respectively.

Congratulations to Jess Caton on winning best girl for the 2nd competition running. I think Jess was a little surprised!

Oliver Cheshire (2.5) and James Travis (2) both had decent competitions as well.

Just 3 Monday night chess clubs now before my holiday. Hopefully see you at the Community Centre from 6.30pm.
