Today we had the 2nd CSC competition of the year (61 children entered). We had a record 15 children from our two schools participating.
I am pleased to say that we had 8 children who played competitive chess for the first time.
Here is summary of how they did:
Lawrence Mustafa Magnificent performance in his first competition. 5 wins out of 6 (joint 2nd overall placed 3rd on a tiebreak). For a year 3 to do this against children up to year 6 is impressive. The pressure was really on at end, completely unflustered by the whole occasion. Compliments all round from the organiser and other tutors!
Alexia Clancy Best Girl prize 4 wins out of 6 (beating two of our other girls on a tiebreak).
Sarah Taylor 4 out of 6 (lost best girl prize on a tiebreak). Also want to compliment her on the amount of help she gave the organiser during the day.
Eleanor Higginbottom 4 out of 6 (lost best girl prize on a tiebreak) her best score so far!
Mustapha Dia 4 out of 6 (lost best newcomer on a tiebreak)
Dylan Crothers 4 out of 6 (lost best newcomer on a tiebreak)
Ethan Lancaster 4 out of 6 good performance (would have been top 3 if he had won his last game)
William Hardman-Elliott 4 out of 6 another fine performance
Jack Horsfall 3.5 out of 6 bettered his score in the last competition
Alex Hollingworth 3.5 out of 6 in his first competition, a great effort
Jacob Hunt 3 out of 6 I think he was a touch disappointed but still a decent score.
Patrick Shaw 3 out of 6 Again in his competition an excellent effort. He only actually lost one match as he drew 4 of his 6 matches.
Joshua Buckley 2.5 out of 6 again first competition, generally struggles in chess club but I am really pleased with his score.
Alistair Ward 2 out of 6 first competition matched score that was expected
Zach Ward - 2 out of 6 first competition matched score that was expected
Again great support from all parents/grandparents. Without them we couldnt do it!!
The standard at our chess challenge match on the 29th June is going to be extremely high.
