Good progress is being made so far in the new school year. We have had 3 lessons in the two schools, covering the pawns and rooks so far. The enthusiasm is great and I am looking forward to hopefully having some new players in the clubs later in the year.
St Thomas' club has commenced already (14 players signed up) and in the two weeks so far we have had an early competition which Ethan Lancaster won and a great 2nd week testing them all with the 8 Queens puzzle which 4 pairs manage to solve. We had some games on the new clocks that we donated to the schools from the Summer Activity Day. Well back to all plus new ones Harley, Kaicee, Maisie and Holly.
St James club has had a delayed start and commences this coming Thurs and we have 15 signed up already including some new ones. We will also be running a taster session for next years year 3 class by inviting on a first come first served 6 children from year 2 to get ahead of the game. I am pleased to announce Alyssa Varlow who left for Secondary School in July will come back after her excellent exploits at the Gigafinal and look after this group. Welcome back Alyssa.
