Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge is an annual competition where the best players in all schools (Primary and Secondary) go through a number of local, regional and National competitions to find the best player(s) in all age groups.
In 2015 my schools entered for the first time. Initially the best player from each school (if they reach a set number of points qualify automatically for the regional megafinal). There is a last chance saloon competition held at 3cs and the best in age groups qualify for the megafinal.
Last Chance Saloon
Jack Ellidge (St James) - Qualified
Alfie Stonall (St Thomas) - Qualified
Ella Keech (St Thomas) - Qualified
Alyssa Varlow
Aaron Walkden
George Pixton
Megafinal (held at Saddleworth School) - Mersey region (covering all schools in Lancs and Cheshire)
Jack Ellidge - Qualified (automatic qualification for 4pts out of 6)
Alfie Stonall (3pts)
Ella Keech (1pt)
Northern Gigafinal (held at Wright Robinson - July 2015) - covering the whole of the North of England, Scotland, Wales)
Jack Ellidge - 1.5 pts out 6
A remarkable performance for Jack to qualify for the Northern Gigafinal, especially considering he is not affiliated with a club (one of the very few in the competition). Jack should be extremely proud.
