Nov 2018

Amazing day at the latest Chess competition at Broadoak Community Centre in Ashton. 63 players played across 2 competitions.

William Hardman-Elliott took 2nd place overall with 5pts out of 6 (and should have won the other!).

Otis Kershaw had an fabulous debut winning best newcomer prize (probably around 20 newbies today) with 4 out of 6 (so chuffed for both of them).

Everyone else performed admirably.

Alex Hollingworth was on 4 out of 4 and looking good to win the whole competition but lost his last two.

Lucy Lowe had a wobble at the start losing the first two but then winning her last 4 but lost slow starter prize on a tiebreak.

Patrick Shaw finished well winning his last 2 to finish on 3 out of 6.

Last and definitely not least Ethan Lancaster played in the senior event and really does not look out of place in this esteemed company scoring 2.5  out of 5 finishing joint 5th out of 16.
