Another fantastic chess competition at Ashton again.
To have 4 players in the senior event is great but the competition is really tough going. Lawrence scored a brilliant 3 out of 5 and would have secured 2nd place if he had secured victory in round 5 but lost an 82 move marathon match.
Sithun made his senior debut and scored a creditable 2 out of 5. Shawn (1) and Adam (0) enjoyed some good games but struggled to get the points on the board.
In the junior event more success. Patrick S took 3rd place with 4.5 out of 6 (after his 2nd place last month), these days a model of consistency. Jess C scored her best points total (4.5) and gained an excellent 4th place and is now finishing her games off much better (rather than finishing off her chess tutor!!). Lucy L and James C both finished with 3.5 after titanic battles against their school mates and could quite easily finished in the prizes.
Well done to Lucy for coming 2nd on the raffle.
