Xmas Competition Results

Great fun at the latest Chess competition at Broadoak Community Centre in Ashton. Around 60 players played across 2 competitions in the Christmas event

Leon Li took 2nd place overall with 5pts out of 6

William Hardman-Elliott took 3rd place also with 5pts out of 6

Alex Hollingworth took 4th place with 4.5 out of 6 and would have won had he beat the overall winner in the last round. He was winning and she found an excellent winning move to deprive him.

Sithun Da Silva had an fabulous debut winning best newcomer prize with 4 out of 6

Everyone else performed admirably.

Ayaan unfortunately missed round 1 due to being late which was a shame as he won in rounds 2 to 5 but lost out in the final round.

Lucy Lowe had a mixed day to finish on 3.

Patrick Shaw started well winning 3 out of 4 and then losing the last two.

Likewise Austin had a good start but also lost his last two

Otis had a wobble mid competition but came good in rounds 5 and 6 to finish with 3.5

Nathan Li played in the senior event and scored his best score with 2.5 out of 5.

Patrick Shaw finished well winning his last 2 to finish on 3 out of 6.

CSC Team Competition Sat 13th Oct

A magnificent 56 players turned up for the first Chess congress of the new school year. This time it was a team event, with 14 teams of 4. Each player was seeded into groups 1 to 4 with players only allowed to play players in their group.

We had 2 players seeded 1 therefore playing the most difficult players. Ethan Lancaster and Lawrence Moustafa found it really tough going scoring 1 and 2 out of 5 respectively.

We had 6 players seed 2, 2nd toughest grp. Alex Hollingworth scored 5 out of 5 and was in the winning team. Nathan scored 4 and won best seed 2 outside winning team. William HE, Dylan C, Patrick S (scored 2), Austin B struggled a touch to score 0.5.

Lucy Lowe was seeded 3 and scored a fabulous 4 out of 5 and was 2nd best out of the 14 in her group.

Leon Li was seeded 4 and ran away with it scoring 5 out of 5. James Cooper scored a brilliant 3 out of 5 on his debut.
