Results from todays CSC Competition

A fabulous day at the Christmas chess event at Ashton with around 50 players, we had 12 competing.

Gutted I didn't win the most important prize of all (the Christmas jumper prize) but one of our players did, Adam Hamer magnificent jumper with warming winter fire attached. Never any doubt!!!

Senior event:
Lawrence scored his best ever 3.5 out of 5 and notable draw v winner Dawn Supatan.

Nathan Li played very well to score 3 out of 5.

Ethan after a slow start came good with an excellent 2.5.

Sithun and Shawn score 2 points after excellent starts.

Adam scored 1 point but he is giving all opponents good, tough games.

Junior event:
Well done to Dylan Crothers on taking 2nd place overall after rescuing a seemingly lost position in round 6, scoring 5 out of 6

Patrick Shaw again in the first 3 places for the 3rd consecutive competition and would have finished higher if he hadn't messed up a castling move in round 5. He scored 4.5 out of 6.

Kyle Dissanayake scored an excellent 4.5 and lost 3rd place on a tiebreak.

Leon Li also played really well scoring 4 out of 6

The highlight for me was the performance of newcomer Leon Walker with a fabulous 3.5 out of 6 (our next future star I reckon!).

Jess Caton had a lovely day but may be a touch disappointed with her 3 out of 6.

African Adventures Junior Chess Competition Sat 15th February 2020

In August 2020, Xtreme Explorers (including my daughters Hannah and Ella) will be travelling to Nakuru in Kenya to spend a week at a local school helping with building work, teaching new skills and sports coaching. This is a great opportunity for our young people to help some of the areas most disadvantaged children.

To raise money for this I have booked St Thomas' church hall and lounge on Sat 15th February for the African Adventures Junior Chess competition. It will be run on a similar lines to the regular Chess in Schools events. There will be no events between Dec and April so a good opportunity to fill the gap with this competition.

Hopefully you will all support my event even those who haven't played in a competition for a while. Thank you.
